April Book Haul : Book Haul #3

Hello Book-Lovers!

As you can tell from the title, this is a (slightly excessive) book haul. I went a little crazy last month and bought way more books than I meant to. (I ended up putting myself on a book buying ban about two weeks into April).

The Darkest Minds & Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken

I found these two at my local used book store in basically brand new condition, and I grabbed them without thinking twice. I don't really know much about this series (I'm pretty sure it's a trilogy) except that it's Dystopian, and I've seen some pretty mixed reviews.

The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall

I have no idea what this book is about, I remember putting it on my TBR years ago when it came out, and then I saw it on Book Outlet for super cheap so I grabbed it.

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

This is a re-purchase for me, I read this book back in high school and I loved it so when I saw it on Book Outlet for super cheap I grabbed it. This is the first book in this like, Urban Fantasy/Faerie series.

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner

I received this book for review. It's a debut, YA Contemporary novel set in Southern USA. I've actually already read and reviewed this book > HERE < and I really, really enjoyed it.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

I don't know anything about this book really, except that it was really popular a few years back. It was one of those books that I saw at my local used book store, recognized the title, and picked it up.

I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

This is a beautiful Contemporary novel following two twins, Noah and Jude. I've actually already read this book during AuthorAThon last month, and I loved it.

You by Caroline Kepnes

I don't know much about this book, but I've been seeing it floating around the internet a lot lately so when I saw it at the bookstore for bargain price, I grabbed it. All I know about it that it's some kind of Thriller-type novel. 

The Bone Season & The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

I have no idea what this series is about, other than it's some kind of Fantasy. I've heard really good reviews, so when I saw them both on Book Outlet for really cheap I grabbed them.

March Book Haul : Book Haul #2

Hello!
The end of the month is upon us, so it's about time for my March book haul. I acquired quite a few books this month, starting with my trip to my local used book store. I've already hauled those books (Used Book Haul) so I won't be mentioning them here.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

I've heard nothing but good things about this series. That being said, I don't really know much about it. And I like that, I like going into a series not knowing all that much. But with the final book coming out this year I figured now was a good time to pick it up.

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

This is another one I don't know that much about. I've been seeing it around a lot over the past year, and I've heard really good things about it. It's an award winning, historical fiction novel set in Nazi-occupied France.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik 

This is a stand-alone fantasy novel. That's really all I know about it. I heard good things about it, and I'm a huge fan of the fairy tale-esque fantasy stories









Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas

This is the second book in the fantasy series Throne of Glass. I wasn't the biggest fan of Throne of Glass, but I've heard the series gets better as it continues so I thought I would give it another chance.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

This is the sequel to Red Queen. And while I didn't love Red Queen, I did enjoy the second half of the book and I've heard that this one is also much better. I will have to re-read Red Queen before I pick this one up, though.

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I like to read in my bed, mostly. I like to lay down when I'm reading.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Depends on whether I can find a bookmark or not. It's usually a bit of both. 

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

It depends on why I'm stopping, but I generally just prefer to stop at the end of a chapter. It just seems easier to me for some reason. 

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

I try not to eat or drink while I'm reading, because I tend to be a bit of a messy person. But sometimes I'll have a cup of tea, or something with me. And if it's a really good book, and I can't put it down, I will read while I'm eating.

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
Sometimes I'll read during commercial breaks when I'm watching TV. But I find listening to music or anything like that is very distracting.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

I try to only read one book at a time, because I have a bad habit of starting several books before I finish one

  
7. Reading at home or everywhere?

I'm really easily distracted, so I find it hard reading anywhere but at home. I'll usually listen to an audiobook while I'm on the bus, though. So there's that.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Usually, I'll read silently. Sometimes I'll find myself reading dialogue out loud though, so a bit of both.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Never intentionally, but I always find myself wandering ahead a little. 

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I try very hard not to crack the spine, but it is inevitable.

11. Do you write in your books?

Never.

12. Who do you tag?

Used Book Haul : Book Haul #1

I went to the used bookstore recently and picked up a few books. (Okay, maybe more than a few. 13, to be exact.) The books were cheap and I have no self control, so I went a little crazy. I have no shame when it comes to buying books, the more the merrier.
(These will be added to my TBR page)

P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. I know this one was made into a movie, I've never seen it but my mother loved it. I don't really know that much about it.

One Day by David Nicholls. I've read this book before and really enjoyed it, picked it up for a re-read.

The Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. (Bared to You, Reflected in You, Entwined with You). These are the first three books in the series. I've had this series recommended to me multiple times so when I saw it I just grabbed it. I believe it is erotica, which is much different from what I normally read.

Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. I've had Sophie Kinsella recommended to me a lot lately so I grabbed this book. I have no idea what it's about.

Confessions of a Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella. (Confessions of a Shopaholic, Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic & Sister, Shopaholic & Baby, Mini Shopaholic). Again, I picked these up because I have heard nothing but good things about Sophie Kinsella. They were all pretty cheap so I figured might as well grab what they have. I'm currently reading Confessions of a Shopaholic and I'm enjoying it so far.

The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks (not pictured). I don't even know what this book is about, I don't even know if it's the first book or not. I believe it is. All I know is that it's fantasy and I'm interested in reading more fantasy.
